Prior - During
Semi Permanent Makeup (Cosmetic Tattoo) Treatment

Before booking your SPMU appointment

  1.  You will definitely need two treatments to truly get the best results from your semi-permanent makeup.  This follow up procedure is scheduled usually between 4-6 weeks but not longer than 3 months after your first visit.
  2. The price includes the 1st and 2nd treatment together.
  3. When scheduling an appointment date for a semi-permanent makeup procedure, keep in mind the healing time. You will not look your best (swelling, oozing, puffing for 1-2 days, especially on lips or eyelids) and the colour will be much darker than the final results.
  4. Lips will peel for a week, allow it to flake off on its own.
  5. For eyebrows treatment I may ask you to send me a photo of your current eyebrows. Please make sure this photo is clear and light enough.
  6. Make it clear that the final results vary from client to client and depend on the client’s individual health, lifestyle and skin type. It’s an art, not a science, and results cannot be guaranteed.
  7. I won’t start any of the treatments if you have a fever, cough.
  8. After having a semi-permanent makeup treatment there are some rules you should follow to avoid any infections and to reach the best result. Please check the hand out Aftercare what to avoid. For example: Many anti-aging products and services containing acids, lighteners, and exfoliates cause premature fading of pigment. Avoid pigmented area.
  9. For LIPS:
- If you suffer with Herpex Simples (Cold Sores) the trauma caused by Micropigmentation can cause an outbreak. To help minimise a cold Sore outbreak I recommend getting a prescription from your GP for Aciclovir tablets and cream. I recommend taking an anti-viral tablet such as Aciclovir for 5 days before your procedure and continue the course for another 5 days after the procedure. Using Aciclovir anti-viral cream will also help reduce symptoms.
Online you can buy this (15 day course) tablets on https://www.ukmeds.co.uk/aciclovir. I would recommend to ask gp's opinion first before ordering them online. The pigment usually (80-90%) stays in the area of the cold sores.
- If you have had any type of lip surgery, consult with the physician about how long you should wait before having a semi-permanent makeup procedure on the lips. Semi-permanent makeup artists have noticed poor color retention in lips that have received collagen injections within 6 months. There has even been a little pigment migration along lip edges with Restylane. It may be best not to have lip filler injections and semi-permanent lip color within the same year.
- Oral prosthesis dentures/ partials/ braces and tongue piercing bars may increase risk of getting bacterial and/or fungal infection from the mouth to the lips. Denture wearers generally carry a higher candida/ yeast count. Recent antiobiotic therapy can be responsible for a high candida count. Steroid medications and antacid drugs can allow candida to overpopulate. Smokers tend to have a high count also. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. The bacteria-yeast balance in the mouth can get out of whack, and the oral saliva will get in the holes made by tattooing lips. Lips can get infected easily. Bacterial infections clear up more quickly than Candida Albicans infections. It is possible to have a co-infection when both bacteria and fungus are involved. It is possible to get a candida infection right after clearing up a bacterial infection.

Prior to your SPMU treatment

7-10 days before:
  • If you have dry skin, please ensure you are using Vitamin-E cream which hydrate your skin and preventing from being very sensitive. It is beneficial if you arrive with a balanced skin.
  • Make sure you don’t have your eyebrows/eyelashed tinted.
  • If you wear false lashes, please have them removed.
  • If you take blood thinners or Aspirin, please make sure you don’t take them 7 days prior.

3-4 days before:
  • Don’t use sunbed otherwise your skin is going to be much drier and sensitive, more traumas for your skin.
  • If you are having treatment on your lips, please care your lips with lip balm to hydrate them. Note: Labello makes them dry not hydrate them.
  • With lip blush treatment: if you have had cold sore (herpex) before, it will likely to come out around 3 days after the treatment. To help minimise a cold Sore outbreak I recommend getting a prescription from your GP for Aciclovir tablets and cream. I recommend taking an anti-viral tablet such as Aciclovir for 3-4 days before your procedure and continue the course for another 4-5 days after the procedure.

24 hours before:
  • Sleep and rest well
  • Don’t go out for drinking or having a heavy night.
  • If you wear contact lenses don’t use it 24 hours before and after the eye treatment.

On the treatment day:
  • If you wear contact lenses, use your glasses
  • Eat breakfast, don’t fast
  • Do not rush
  • Dress comfortable as you will be here for 2.5-3 hours
  • You can wear makeup if you want

What is happening during SPMU treatment

On the first appointment (which lasts ~ 3 hours) I prefer to give a natural appearance.
During your second treatment (lasts ~1.5 hours) I can add additional color,
length and thickness which happens 6-8 weeks later, but not longer than 3 months.
1/ Anaesthetic (~20-30 mins)
I will clean and apply a topical anaesthetic to the area you’re having a procedure done. If having eyeliner done I will apply this after we go through the paperwork as this happens with your eyes closed.
2/ Paperwork
I will ask you to sign the Medical Consent Form and Treatment Consent Form.
3/ Mini Consultation
Then we are going to focus on discussing your treatment and ensure we are both on the same page and I fully understand what you want so that you leave fully satisfied. We discuss with more details:
  • Shape
  • Color: on the first treatment I would choose a lighter, more natural color and on the second treatment I can always use a stronger, brighter color. Just bear in mind: Straight after the treatment the pigment will look darker and different than what you want for your final look. Once the crust flakes off the color will look 40-70% lighter (lip procedures tend to fade more than eyebrows or eyeliner). No need to worry because on the second treatment I will correct the loss of the color.
For the best if you turn up with your selected treatment area done at home for me to use for color and shape guidance. Other option, to bring a photo of yourself where you are wearing makeup. Also helps if  you bring your eyebrow pencil, lip stick.
 4/ Photographs
I will take some „before‟ photographs for my records. If you are not happy for me to use the photographs in my portfolio, website or social media pages, please select this when you sign the declaration form.
5/ Drawing (~60 mins)
I will use specific measurements and draw the very first template on so we can discuss the further adjustment you wish. Then I will correct the drawing slightly and then we discuss the shape again and again. This might take time, but I am willing to make little changes until we reach the exact look what you have in your mind.
6/ Procedure (~45-60 mins)
I won’t start the “tattooing” until you are 100% satisfied with the temple I have made.
7/ Final clean up and you check
I will clean up all excess pigment, get you to sit up slowly and then I will ask you to look yourself on the wall mirror and if you still find something to adjust I will do it there. As I said earlier, I am going to reach the very final result on the second treatment. The first one is more of a “on the way to get the desired result”.
8/ Photographs
I will take some „after‟ photographs for my records. Please let me know if you are not happy for me to use the photographs in my portfolio, website or social media pages.
9/ Aftercare advice
I will give you the aftercare balm/cream (only for eyebrows and lip treatment) and we are discussing when and how to apply. I will quickly go through the main part of the aftercare and healing process. I will also give you an aftercare information leaflet to take away with you. This leaflet has already sent to you online.
