Difference between Microblading and SPMU

Essentially they are both methods of implanting pigment into the skin however the main difference is that SPMU is implanted with an electronic device similar to a conventional tattoo machine where as microbloading is done using a manual hand tool with a blade similar to a tiny scalpel.

How long does the procedure take

First treatment lasts about 3 hours. I recommend to wear something comfortable. I have free parking at the back of my house.
Second treatment should lasts about 1.5 - 2 hours.

Does it hurt

Topical numbing cream can be applied before and during the procedure to help minimize any discomfort.
Please make sure you are not allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine and epinephrine.

Is it safe

Every cosmetic skin procedure involves a very small degree of risk and, although it is a very low-risk procedure as long as the aftercare instructions are followed. If you don’t, there is a risk of infection which may cause color loss, but by following my aftercare plan you will be able to enjoy the SPMU without any complications.

Do I need the second treatment

 YES, YES. & YES

In all cases the 2nd treatment (correction) must be needed 6-8 weeks after the 1st treatment.
The first treatment sets the look and creates the shape and the second treatment will correct the uneven pigments on the area and also give a longer lifetime of the permanent make up.

How long does it last

The permanent make up will fade after a while as the skin has a renewing process. This can be different in each individual, depends on many other factors, like the darkness of the pigment, the skin type, the age, sunbathing habit, dyeing the eyebrows, lifestyle...
The hair-stroke eyebrows treatment will need a re-touch in 12-18 months. The eyeliner, powder eyebrows and lips treatment last longer (2-5 years).

Eyelashes and eyebrows during eyeliner  treatment

You may find some eyelashes or hairs sticking in the treated area and falling out with the scabs. Don’t worry, I insert the pigment just under the epidermis and the hair bulb is healthy underneath.

After scabs coming off you feel the area is faded, not asymmetric or not the right color

The magic word is PATIENCE!!!!!
The right color will appear 4 weeks after the treatment because of the healing time of your top of the skin (epidermis).
All SPMU treatment will happen 2 times as I can not reach 100% result after 1 treatment. This follow up/2nd treatment is included the price.
If you are happy with the result after the 1st treatment I still advise you to come back for the follow up treatment to make sure everything looks good.

I normally have cold sore

If you suffer with Herpex Simples (Cold Sores) the trauma caused by Micropigmentation can cause an outbreak. To help minimise a cold Sore outbreak I recommend getting a prescription from your GP for Aciclovir tablets and cream. I recommend taking an anti-viral tablet such as Aciclovir for 5 days before your procedure and continue the course for another 5 days after the procedure. Using Aciclovir anti-viral cream will also help reduce symptoms.
I would recommend to ask gp's opinion first before ordering them online.

The pigment stays in 60-70%  the area of the cold sores.

What Pigment is being used

Pigments I am using do not contain iron-oxides so eyebrows can maintain their brown color.
They were produced with the latest production technology and they are anti-allergenic and its composition contains specifically skin-friendly substances.
If you still have any concerns about the pigment and your skin is extremely sensitive, please come for a free consultation and I will do a patch test behind your ear just to make sure it is suitable for you

Can I have a treatment if I already have an old permanent makeup

There are a lot of considerations to take before we can make the decision to go over existing work to reshape and/or cover other artists existing permanent makeup.
In this case please have a free consultation with me, where we can talk about your expectations and decide on the most suitable treatment for you.
The price will be individual.

Skin health issues you need to know about

  • Ingrown hairs and open bumps on eyebrows area: injured skin cannot be tattooed.
  • Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis (flaking/itching/irritation/shedding of skin): skin is not healthy, cannot be tattooed.
  • Rosacea: skin bleeds easy and will not retain pigment well.
  • Moles: anything raised will not retain color.
  • Tanned/sun-burnt skin: skin is not normal color and is damaged.
  • Use of any eyelash/eyebrow growth conditioner: Hair follicles are hypersensitive and will bleed easily.
  • Extremely thin skin: transparent or translucent skin bleeds easily and cannot hold pigment due to tits thinness.

Medical health, history

  • Heart conditions, as a blood infection could make you seriously ill.
  • Blood diseases, diabetes can slow the healing process.
  • Allergies to latex, metals and other substances, skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis and other issues.
  • Hemophilia and other circulatory disorders.
  • Any medications or treatments you’re currently receiving.
  • If you’re pregnant or nursing a baby at this time. I don't recommend to have semi-permanent makeup procedure during your pregnancy and breastfeeding period.
All these questions may seem a bit much (and a bit scary) but really they are just designed to make sure semi-permanent makeup is a suitable treatment for you. If you do suffer with any of these issues, it doesn’t necessarily mean I will not treat you, only that I will be well prepared before I do.

Scar camouflage  -  FAQ

Will it hurt

My clients describe the discomfort 2/5.

If your scarring has sensation, a numbing agent can be applied before the treatment.

Benefits of Scar Camouflaging

  • This is a cost-effective scar treatment when compared with surgical treatments.
  • Used with medical needling, I am able to adjust both the texture and color for more effective camouflage. This technique will also stimulate the body’s wound-healing response.
  • This is a completely safe treatment.
  • This is a quick treatment option, with some clients only requiring one session.
  • As with permanent tattooing, the results last for years.
  • You will require anything between 1-4 sessions to get the desired result, you will see a change in the color of the scar after each session and a decision to continue each session can be made after the healing period. Each person and case is unique.

Facial Microneedling FAQ

When is microneedling not advised?

Microneedling should not be performed when the following are present: excess acne, keloid scars, autoimmune diseases, blood coagulation disorder, bacterial skin infections, skin diseases, open wounds and/or non-epithelialized skin lesions, such as chronic wounds.

Can I have facial microneedling after Botox?

Yes.
After 30 days (depending on what is done on the face).
This treatment can be an extraordinary addition to other aesthetic procedures such as filler treatment, Botox, chemical peeling and surgical lifting. Regular treatments considerably postpone the use of aggressive surgical methods.

Is it painful?

With the use of local anaesthetic in the form of cream, pain and discomfort during treatment is minimised, so that it is virtually painless. After treatment your skin will look and feel like mild sunburn. This usually passes completely between 24 and 48 hours after the treatment.

How long does the microneedling result last?

After a course of 3 session (3 weeks apart), the treatment results last for 6 months. While we cannot stop the natural ageing process, we can significantly slow it down and visually improve the appearance of the skin, and then continue to maintain the achieved results.

Is there any age limit?

Treatment is not performed on people under the age of 18. For young people over age of 18, microneedling can be done in order to reduce sebum production and pore narrowing, as well as removing marks and acne scars.

Tattoo FAQ

Performing a tattoo is very exciting, but we always have to keep in mind that when we tattoo, we create wounds on the skin of our client, which is invasive.
So you have to be aware of the necessary care before and after tattooing. It is essential that you know the measures and steps to follow you should take into account when working, and also communication with your client.

Tattoo
Healing process

1-7 DAYS:
In the first week the greatest discomfort will occur, since the skin has just been punctured and the body will be at the highest stress level, trying to assimilate the ink and healing the wounds caused by the needles.
The first three days, the skin will be swollen and very sensitive. The inflammation is normal in the first 72 hours, it may even take a little longer to go away, although the sensitivity will last more days.
A soft scab will appear until day 7, it is a type of scarring from that of other wounds or scrapes. And this is because, by constantly moisturizing the skin with creams and washing it with soap, the skin is moistened enough not to harden the scarring.
You have to be careful not to remove the scabs. Let them come off on their own so as not to make the wounds deeper. Therefore, when you talk to your client, make this part very clear.
It is also normal for the wound to ooze mucus or fluids, but it is part of the healing process.

ITCHINESS AFTER 7 DAYS:
The skin begins to regenerate and the hair that was shaved prior to the tattoo begins to grow. This leads to itching.
You have to make it clear to the client that it is very important that they do not scratch the area. In fact, every time they want to do so, they should apply a thin layer of moisturizing cream. Hands and nails are a source of concentration of bacteria, so it is essential to maintain proper a sepsis in the area to avoid infections.
Frequent washing and moisturizing are the key to healing the tattoo. Otherwise, the skin that has to come off by itself will not, and healing will be slower and poorer.

15-20 DAYS:
From the second or third week on, all discomfort and itching should decrease or disappear. This happens after taking good care of the tattoo.
But beware, constantly washing is not good either, two or three times a day should be enough. Of course, do not forget to moisturize the skin with creams.
After the third week, the skin may not be as smooth or soft as it used to be. If this happens, it is advisable to keep moisturizing the skin with lotions and creams. Little by little the effect will be reversed, so be patient.

What products should I use on my new tattoo:

  • Cling film. This will be put on immediately after the tattoo is finished. The reason for its use is to prevent you from getting infections.
  • Neutral soap. Or white soap, as you know it, is the one that is always used to wash tattoos and it is the most recommended for its neutral pH. The soap can’t have fragrances or any other additives, since this could negatively affect the process. Apart from that, cold water should be our only choice.
  • Drying paper. When drying the tattoo, using towels is not recommended. Instead, use disposable paper to avoid bacteria.
  • Healing ointments or lotions. You have to remember that by putting a large amount of products does not mean that you are doing things right. For this reason, you should apply a thin layer.
Important: do not share the creams with another person, as they are for personal use only. Otherwise, bacteria are avoided. It is advisable to keep these products in the fridge.
  • Antibiotic ointment or cream. Some creams that come with medication can be beneficial, but they need to be prescribed.
This will be necessary whenever there are risks of infection or once it has occurred, so the tattoo artist will not be the one to recommend them, it is always necessary to see a doctor.

Complications and infections around the new tattoo

However, some unexpected complications may arise due to poor care or not following the steps mentioned before. How to identify an infected tattoo? Keep reading to know more.
To begin with, inflammation followed by irritation is easily identified. When the wounded skin comes into contact with bacteria, inflammation quickly occurs and it produces a reddish appearance that can make the area hotter and raise a fever.
Also, the itching increases and a lot. As we mentioned, in this situation, what you should not do is scratch, at all. If the tattoo is infected, it would be good to wash the affected area and look for alternatives to calm the itching. Something that can also work is to apply a thin layer of aloe vera.
Like any infection, oozing and pus normally happen. This would be considered a fairly advanced infection. In the event that this happens, one of the things that can be done is to apply physiological solution and use antiseptic products, apart from washing it with neutral soap.
In any of these situations, we recommend seeing a doctor and never self-medicate. So if something like this happens to your client, remind them that it is important to see a professional.
Personal care is the responsibility of the client, but you must be clear when explaining what to do and how to take care of the tattoo after the session. Healing time also depends a lot on its size and complexity, but care is the client’s main responsibility.

How to maintain my new tattoo over time?

And lastly, as we anticipated before, after-care after healing is complete is essential. For this reason, we’ll give you some tips.
  • Avoid sleeping on the side of the freshly made tattoo.
  • Also avoid very tight clothing in the first few weeks. Having tight clothes generates unwanted friction on the skin, which can cause irritation, attract bacteria and cause many problems in the future.
  • Drink water and have a healthy diet: It is key to always maintain good hydration, before, during and after.
  • Sunscreen. This is essential, whenever the tattoo is exposed to the sun, whether in summer or winter, the use of sunscreen is essential to ensure its duration over time. As the inks are chemical products, with solar radiation they can lose their pigmentation very easily.
You should always use sunscreen, no matter if you have tattoos or not, sun exposure is very harmful to the skin. But if you want to maintain the quality of the tattoo, using a sunscreen with +50 spf is ideal and recommended.
  • Moisturise the skin with creams. We mentioned it before, but it is recommended to keep the colors vivid for longer.
